Android delete all contacts

Sadly the option to delete all contacts was removed by Google some time ago...

But this is really an important feature if you want to move your contacts e.g. to Nextcloud.
Or if you accidentally imported your contacts into the wrong address book.

Attention

ALL YOUR CONTACTS WILL BE LOST!

Make sure you know what you're doing, and make a backup first!

Solution

  • Install app "Delete Multiple Contacts" via Google Play or Yalp
  • !!! Do not start the app yet !!!
  • Turn off wifi and mobile internet
(To make sure your contacts are not leaked to a unknown app/vendor)
  • Now start the app, select all contacts and delete them
  • Uninstall the app
  • Turn wifi / mobile internet back on.
