Running unsigned Java Applet with Ubuntu/Firefox/Java8

  • Find out the applet web URL, e.g. http://www.bikecad.ca/quickapplet
  • Open a terminal
    • ControlPanel
      • -> Security
      • Make sure level "High" is selected (Not "very high")
      • Edit sitelist
      • Add the baseurl with a trailing slash
      • Example: http://www.bikecad.ca/
      • Ok -> Ok
  • Restart Firefox and reload webpage with applet. Should work now.
